Neil Emerton
Neil Emerton is not only one of the instructors at Hyung Je Martial Arts but is also one of the original founders of the club. Having been teaching since 2009, Neil’s professionalism and quirky sense of humour have been admired by many students for creating a fun learning environment that maintains high student standards.
Neil started his training in Tae Kwon do at the age of 33, after a friend suggested trying a white belt training session for a bit of fun. Immediately hooked, Neil began to increase his training sessions to 3-4 times a week until achieving 1st Dan black belt in 2009 and even qualified as an instructor the same year.

After qualifying as an instructor, Neil has been teaching on a weekly basis as well as continuing his own training. The testament to his commitment was achieving 4th Dan in 2020. It just proves you don’t need to be young to start training!
In addition to Neil’s Tae Kwon Do achievements, he has extensive knowledge and experience of self defence techniques and applications, acquired through his military career, which have proved invaluable to those who have attended the self defence courses.
Neil Continues to research new ideas and training methods to apply to his lessons and also trains on a regular basis to continually develop his own skills and personal fitness, which is why other students look to him frequently for advice on both physical and technical applications of self defence and his traditional pattern performance.

Adrian Taylor

After Winning gold in sparing in both British and Welsh championships he was selected to represent Great Britain in the European Championships.

Adrian progressed to the grade of 2nd Dan by 1996 before taking a break to concentrate on his education and career. Adrian returned to Tae Kwon Do in 2010 with the same dedication and enthusiasm as before. Regaining the high levels of skill required for his grade was not enough! He has since competed at national level and once again regained his place on the podium. Since then Adrian has achieved 4th Dan, qualified as an instructor and now enjoys dedicating his time to passing on his extensive knowledge to other students, developing their sparring techniques as well as continuing his own personal development in the art and his passion, sparring.
